Thursday Jan 14, 2021
How my relatives taught me resilience and strength to deal successfully with adversity.
In this Podcast Emma Radway-Bright recounts the most uplifting and inspirational stories from her international childhood and explores how these experiences can shape our identity and ultimately, our life. Emma lived in Africa for 5 years during her childhood before moving to Dublin then south London, then Nigeria and back to London again.
We will explore how childhood experiences can influence our mentality, ambition, decisions through life. How do our experiences observing, interacting and learning from our grandparents influence relationships, our approach to life and our confidence? Emma Radway Bright originally trained as a scientist and is now a counsellor and psychotherapist with a thriving Private Practice based in South East London. Emma works with people who are experiencing depression, stress, anxiety and the general pressures of modern day living.
She specialises in trauma - big and small - and works with people to resolve the emotional, physical and behavioural effects of any trauma they have experienced in the past, or more recently. Emma is Afro-Caribbean and also works with people from similar backgrounds, as she finds that often sharing similar cultural & ethnic heritage; and the context in which we experience life in the UK, helps the therapeutic process.

Local Author Mark Quinn Talks About His Novel Europejski
Wednesday Dec 16, 2020
Wednesday Dec 16, 2020
In this Podcast we interview local author Mark Quinn.
Mark has just published his new novel Europejski which is an historical novel based in Poland from the late 1970’s to the fall of the Berlin Wall and beyond and explores troubling questions of when it is right to withhold the truth, and when deception is justified by the greater good.
It certainly does that but through exploring political intrigue we get to know more about the balance of forces that made up Poland in the time of Soviet occupation, about the power of the Unions through Solidarity and the role of student occupations, the balance in Communist Poland between church and state and the relationship between the Soviet Union and Poland when the edifice of communism is falling apart.
It is also a love story of frustrated passion imprisoned by politics and upheaval and also of political ambition that raises the crucial question in all societies of what is the driving force of politics, conviction or personal ambition.
It is incredibly well researched and a feast for those who like their history embroidered with political intrigue that makes hard fact spring to life so that through the form of fiction a novel as well written as this can help us to understand the truth.

The Digital Age & Older People
Thursday Dec 10, 2020
Thursday Dec 10, 2020
Join us in this interview with Simon Hooper where we discuss how the digital age can enhance the quality of life for the older people in our communities.
Recently we interviewed Nicolas Kee Mew from Elsyng Care Home where he stressed how the digital age can enhance the wellbeing of the elderly. In this webinar we take this one stage further.
Simon Hooper has developed a project and App that brings care homes, the elderly living at home together with service providers, friends and indeed entertainment. It is a service that also links in with Alexa so easily accessible for older people
By using block chain technology he ensures that the information is secure and can be used by those involved to improve the wellbeing of the elderly without their information being stolen by others.
It is a system that also uses tokens as payments similar to those used by time banks and baby sitting circles so there is no exclusion by those unable to afford the exchanges that take place.
It is a very innovative idea that Simon has been working on for a considerable time because of his own passion of developing a quality of life for us all as we get older.

A Better Vision For Enfield Housing
Thursday Dec 03, 2020
Thursday Dec 03, 2020
In this Podcast we interview Matt Burn of Better Homes, Enfield.
Enfield has not met its housing targets and is the 2nd worst performing outer London Borough in terms of increased housing stock.
There is concern that its policy of hyper density such as high rise flats has been designed to meet paper housing targets rather than to meet family needs or to offer homes affordable to rent or buy.
There is also equal concern that Enfield does not have a long term strategic plan for housing development in a time when climate change will make such a plan essential.
Matt Burn from Better Homes Enfield will join us to talk about these and other issues around homes in Enfield.

Communication across borders and leadership in a VUCA world
Tuesday Dec 01, 2020
Tuesday Dec 01, 2020
In this Podcast in our Conversations Across Borders series with Joanna Sells will explore the value of storytelling and listening to restore potency to ourselves and the world we live in
We live in a VUCA world - one of volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. It is a world that becomes more difficult for us and others to navigate. So how can we cope?
How can global leaders inspire, influence and motivate people if they are not familiar with their own “world of obviousness” and do not know the needs, dreams and fears people from different corners of the world bring to the table?
How do we cross borders with conversations about covid, climate change and the constant turmoil of uncertainty for ourselves, the organisations we belong to and to future generations.
Joanna Sell is an intercultural coach, trainer, facilitator, expert in collaboration across borders with storytelling and story listening.
This is one of the webinars in the Conversation Across Borders with
